1.- Eradicating poverty is a moral priority -- 2.- Milestones and challenges: Rights should not be considered favors! -- 3.- Towards the end of Poverty!
Summary: With the adoption of the Constitution of 2008, the Ecuadorians decided to construct a society that respects the dignity of persons in all its dimensions. This respect is built from the decision to change power relations, to base them on economic justice and the entitlement of rights. In a country with so much wealth as Ecuador, it is unacceptable that many people live in poverty and exclusion. A dignified life is a matter of rights, not charity. All human beings should be able to eat healthy, have decent housing, drinking water, basic sanitation, a healthy environment, labour, health, art, and education. However, in Latin America. the most unequal region in the world, those basic rights are still denied to millions of people. This is absolutely intolerable.
